WATERSTONE FIRST MOBILE APP

Waterstone’s, the national bookseller and eBookseller, has today released its first App for iPhone and iPod Touch. The App, available from Waterstones.com/apps and the iTunes App store, allows users to browse our full range of books, place orders via Waterstones.com, find stores and read reviews all from their handset.

Customers can use the App from wherever they are to look up a title in seconds, place an order quickly and easily and get it delivered free to their workplace, home or local store within days. The App can help customers find their nearest Waterstone’s, and thousands of customer reviews are available to help readers choose their next book – either to order online via the App, or buy from their local store.

The App links to customers’ Waterstones.com accounts, allowing them to progress quickly through the checkout process using the same email address and password. New customers can easily set up an account using the App.

The Waterstone’s App also allows users to earn and spend points on their Waterstone’s Loyalty Card, use Waterstone’s gift cards, and pre-order titles ahead of publication.

Waterstone’s Head of e-Commerce, David Kohn, said “Following incredible customer demand, we are thrilled to be launching our first App, making Waterstone’s the first high street bookseller to join this exciting part of the market.”

The Waterstone’s App will shortly be available for iPad, too. Waterstone’s is also working on a second App, dedicated to eBooks, to be launched in the near future. “eBooks are of course a fast growing part of the market and deserve their own dedicated App, which we hope to deliver very soon,” said Kohn.
